Spoon Bent Gouge - Kawasei

Spoon Bent Gouges are used for making those difficult cuts in awkward to reach areas.  They are used extensively for initial removal of material and for carving concave surfaces.  The Master hand forges laminated "white steel" to form the blade.  He then carefully tempers each blade to Rockwell c64 to ensure a long lasting edge.  The handles are Akagashi (Japanese Red Oak), and have double hoops to avoid splitting.  Each tool is fully sharpened to a razor edge.  Overall length is 9" and blade length is 1".
