Plane Adjusting Hammers
BACK CHANNEL Plane Adjusting Hammer
We couldn't find exactly what we wanted
so we created one in our shop! The Back Channel plane adjusting hammer has
a brass head machined at one of our neighbors here in McKees Rocks. It has
a shoulder where the shaft meets the head and a beveled face. The
head is also pinned to the handle. The
hammer weighs 6 oz. Overall length is 11-1/2 inches and the head is 5/8 x
2-1/2 inches. The octagonal handle, made in our shop, allows you to
quickly feel the position of the hammer.

Japanese Plane Adjusting Hammers
Japanese plane adjusting hammers are eight sided and
designed primarily for delicate adjustment of Japanese planes. Because of their
flat sides, they easily slide along the face of the plane iron, while tapping
the chip breaker into position. The heads are forged from best quality tool
steel, properly tempered for a lifetime of use. The handles are made from best
quality Kashi (Japanese White Oak). The handle length is 12".
