What's the diff? Unpolished Chisels Nothing. If you search the web, you will find arguments for and against. Some claim polishing rounds the back, others say it eliminates milling marks. Polishing is done for appearance. Most English and Japanese chisels are not polished. In my experience, if you don't check the flatness of the chisel back you are asking for trouble and poor results. Every chisel, no matter the manufacturer, needs to be tuned. Dante |
