Blue Steel Marking Knives
Woodworkers use marking knives because a knife
line is narrower and more precise than that made by a pencil. In addition, a
knife scores the wood, which eliminates any chance of splintering when the joint
is cut. A marking knife is sharpened with a single bevel, and in use, the
flat side is placed against your straight edge. The choice of blade
depends on the hand preference of the user and whether the cut is made towards
or away from the user. All of our knives are suitable for a variety of layout,
whittling, carving and trimming jobs, and their shape is easily modified to suit
the user's requirements. These knives are available in three styles: bevel
on left side, bevel on right side, or bevel on both sides (Western Pattern). The
left and right hand blades have a hollow ground on the back of the blade to
facilitate sharpening. Generally speaking woodworkers will have a variety
of these knives for various jobs in the shop. Sharpening instructions are
included.
