Woodworking Fundamentals  - The Complete Course
February 3rd - April 6th Tuesdays - 6:00- 9:30 pm    

Even hobbyists can build heirloom furniture with well-tuned hand tools and a few basic power tools  This class is for anyone who has been frustrated by the handwork necessary for fine woodworking  In this class, you will learn to tune and sharpen your hand tools as well as safety and operation skills for the basic power tools necessary for most fine woodworking projects  The class is designed to get you up and running in the shortest time possible 

Class size is limited to six people  This allows for individualized attention to each student.

This class will cover:
Sharpening, tuning, and using:
  • bench chisels
  • hand planes
  • spokeshaves
  • marking knives
  • marking gauges
  • Japanese dovetail saw
  • card scrapers
 		Power tools:
  • table saw
  • jointer
  • thickness planer
  • router/router table

 

No prior experience necessary  However, quality hand tools are required  Speak to instructor about your tool set before purchasing  Student discounts available at our store, di legno woodshop supply 

Tuition $350 Materials fee: $25

Woodworking - One Slice At A Time
These classes are designed for folks who are developing an interest in woodworking or whose schedule doesn't permit the commitment to a longer series of classes.

  • Sharpening & Using a Card Scraper – Complete Tuesday - 6pm - finish $40, 6 students max. Card scrapers are simple inexpensive tools invaluable for cleaning up surfaces before sanding or to eliminate sanding altogether.

  • Sharpening Chisels and Plane Blades - February 20th Saturday - 9:30 am-5pm $65,  6 students max. Lunch included Sharp tools are essential to success in woodworking.

  • Dimension Rough Lumber – Complete Tuesday - 6pm - finish $40, 6 students max. Includes setup of joiner and thickness planer, and truing stock.

  • Tune a Handplane – February 20th Saturday - 9:30 am – 5pm $65, 6 students max. Light Lunch included The class objective is to tune a smoothing plane. Students bring their own plane

  • Cut Your First Dovetail – Complete Saturday - 9:30 am – 5pm $65,  6 students max. Light Lunch included Class begins with through dovetails and progresses to half-blind dovetails

Basic Cabinetmaking - with Pocket-Hole Joinery
Complete Class - March 13th - April 10th  Saturdays - 9:30 am - 5:00pm
$350 plus $90 materials fee. 10 sessions. , 6 students max. Light lunch included
Insider knowledge can make basic cabinets well within the ability of most novice woodworkers. Each student will make his/her own base cabinet of red oak with a raised panel door and dovetailed drawer. Pocket-hole joinery will be used to assemble the cabinets. Class will also cover design and layout of built-in cabinetry. 

Power tools and joinery tools are available at the shop. Students are expected to have their own hand tools.  Please discuss your tools and any planned purchase with the instructor prior to the class.

Finish Carpentry
Complete Class - Complete , Saturday and Sunday, 8:30am-5pm each day,
$200 plus $25 material fee. 8 students max. Light lunch included.

In this class you will learn to beautify a home with window and door casing, baseboard, chair rail, crown, and multi-step crown.

Instructor:

Dante DiIanni has been a cabinet maker for 14 years and has owned and operated G.N.A. Woodworks, a full service fine cabinet shop since 1995. In 2004, he was awarded the title "Master Woodworker" by the Marc Adams School of Woodworking and continues to study with some of the best woodworkers in North America.
